Beschreibung:
Körper kugelig, grün, Rippen spiralig angeordnet und in konische Warzen aufgelöst. Bis zu 18 Randdornen 1-1,5 cm lang, bis zu vier Mitteldornen über Kreuz gestellt, bis 2 cm lang. Alle Dornen weiß, spitz und gerade. Blüten bis 3 cm im Durchmesser hell- bis dunkelrot. Es wird disuktiert, ob Parodia nivosa und penicillata zusammengehören. Da die Standorte (Quebrada del Toro und Cafayate) sehr weit auseinanderliegen, scheint das nicht der Fall.
Verbreitung:
Die Pflanzen wachsen am Anfang der Quebrada del Toro an der Straße von Salta nach Antonio de los Cobres auf knapp 2.000m Höhe in der Umgebung von El Candado

Pflege:
Parodia nivosa ist sehr leicht zu pflegen. Im Sommer regelmäßig Wassergaben (die Erde muss immer wieder abtrocknen), im Winterhalbjahr kühl und trocken (etwa 5-8 Grad). Je heller der Standort ist, je intensiver die Dornenbildung. Die Vermehrung aus Samen bereitet keine Schwierigkeiten.
